The Dallas Titans punched their ticket to the championship game with an impressive 8-5 comeback victory over Texas Elite on Sunday at The Parks at Texas Star, claiming the deciding game of the best-of-three semifinal series.
Texas Elite struck first as William Bush continued his strong series, doubling home two runs in the first inning before adding another RBI double in the third to give his club a 3-0 advantage.
Dallas began its comeback in the fourth inning when Steely Gill energized the offense with a two-run inside-the-park home run, cutting the deficit to one. An inning later, the Titans seized control with a five-run explosion. Dallas strung together six hits in the decisive rally, highlighted by Eric Bruner's two-run single that gave the Titans the lead for good and put them ahead 8-5.
Stephen Alexander earned the victory with another dependable postseason performance, allowing five runs (four earned) on 10 hits over six innings while walking none. Gill closed out the game to earn the save and send the Titans to the championship.
The Titans pounded out 13 hits in the win, with Jacob Calderon, Tim Nelson, and Korey Gillespie each collecting two hits. Gill and Calderon each drove in two runs, while the lineup consistently put pressure on Texas Elite throughout the afternoon.
Texas Elite finished with 10 hits, led by William Bush's 3-for-4 performance with two RBIs. Trent Burgess and Michael Hawkins also recorded multiple hits, but the early lead slipped away as Dallas' offense came alive in the middle innings.
With the victory, the Dallas Titans won the best-of-three semifinal series, two games to one, and advanced to the championship game, completing an impressive comeback after dropping Game 2 earlier in the day.
